Check what each ticket actually covers
Keep the Eurostar booking, airport transport and flight confirmation together, but do not treat them as one protected connection merely because they appear in the same travel plan. Rail connection arrangements concern the journeys and operators covered by their conditions; they are not a general promise about a later flight. Ask the booking provider about your particular combination and check the airline’s change conditions before choosing a tight itinerary. If losing the flight would be costly or difficult to resolve, choose a more generous connection or an earlier arrival in Brussels. A car booking cannot remove the uncertainty of the incoming train.
Allow time from the platform to the meeting point
The scheduled train arrival is not the moment your whole party is ready beside a car. Allow for getting off, gathering luggage and finding the agreed station exit. SNCB lists the station at Avenue Fonsny 47, but a station address alone is not a complete meeting instruction. Agree the entrance or landmark with dispatch and follow the confirmed instructions rather than assuming that any taxi stand is the meeting point for your booking. Keep a working phone available. If someone requires station assistance, arrange it with the rail operator in advance and explain any practical pickup needs separately; do not assume the two arrangements are automatically linked.
Choose the onward connection for the correct airport
For BRU, direct SNCB trains connect Brussels-Midi with the airport station beneath the terminal. Check the departure board and make sure the service stops at Brussels Airport-Zaventem. For CRL, compare the direct coach with a train-and-bus journey or a private transfer; a train ticket to Charleroi-Central alone does not take you to the terminal. Use the current planner for the complete airport connection. The best option depends on your actual arrival, party and bags, not the shortest advertised segment. Rail avoids road congestion on its railway section; a private vehicle avoids changing with luggage, but does not guarantee a faster arrival.
Build the buffer around the flight, not the drive
Write the airline’s required airport arrival time first. Then account for the ground journey, the station exit and a margin for disruption before selecting your train. Bag drop, security and boarding are separate from reaching the airport entrance. A route estimate cannot guarantee that these steps will fit into a short connection. When checking a timetable, use arrival by rather than simply the next departure from Midi, and inspect every interchange. Consider what you would do if the preferred option failed. For a particularly important flight, an earlier train or an overnight stay may be more sensible than relying on a last-minute vehicle change to recover lost time.
Share useful details and report a train delay
For a pickup at Midi, provide your train number, travel date, scheduled arrival and the exact flight airport, along with the party and luggage details. Put the agreed entrance and any special request in the booking remarks. Review the proposed pickup time rather than copying the train arrival without a gap. If Eurostar announces a delay, contact dispatch with the new information as soon as you can; do not assume that a flight-monitoring service also tracks your train. Ask for confirmation of any revised meeting arrangement. Changes, waiting and availability must be agreed for your booking; this guide does not promise unlimited waiting or a guaranteed replacement.
